The Amelia Island Book Festival

It’s hard to put into words how wonderful the Amelia Island Book Festival is. Volunteers and sponsors dedicate months to planning writing workshops, author visits to Nassau County (FL) schools, and a large Book Expo filled with local and national authors (like me), and New York Times Best-Selling authors like Lisa Scottoline and David Baldacci.

I was very happy to be part of the Tween/ Teen writing workshop event with Hidden Figures author Margot Shetterly and others. Her keynote was an inspiration to kids, teachers, and authors! And as far as my workshop, let’s just say that it was fast and furious; we talked about the elements of story, and a beach ball was involved. (Write Away!)

The next day, I presented a program to an intermediate school in the area. Five hundred smiling faces looked out at me as I talked about my journey, the writing process, and my books. I hope I left them with enough tips to make their independent projects shine.

Finally, time spent in Florida would not be complete without a wonderful hike on the beach (Boneyard Beach) and a sweet gift from the sea. I needed some sand in between my toes to celebrate my April release Today Is a Beach Day!
