My author friend, Kate Messner, has made the following statement concerning Coronavirus and author visits. I believe her thoughts are extremely relevant, so I will be adopting the same protocol for my spring school visits, story times, book signings, and general appearances.
“I love meeting readers, and under normal circumstances, kids often approach me after assemblies for hugs, high fives, handshakes, and photos, but for the time being, I’m asking that students refrain from this. Please be sure to give your readers a heads-up about this before the visit, and let them know that I’ll be greeting them with a wave and a smile instead.”
